Indicative Module Content
Theories of participatory health appraisal for communities, localities and workplace settings; how project appraisal can be linked to health improvement; using culturally diverse views; involving local people in planning and executing appraisals. Project preparation: identifying key sources, making contacts and establishing networks; engaging people and gaining insights. Preparation for undertaking in-setting training for local people involved in project appraisal and skill transfer. Need for regular and thorough feedback to local participants.
Assessment
Analysis of Participatory Research (50%)
Critical analysis of participatory features of a named research study. Compare and contrast with other studies focusing on similar topics.
Training Pack Proposal (50%)
Development of a participatory research proposal to include identification and appraisal of selected research techniques and tools.
