On completion of this module you will be able to:

Indicative Module Content
The module provides a theoretical, methodological and practical foundation in participatory visual research. You will explore a range of visual research methods such as: Photo Voice, Photo Elicitation, Visual Mapping, Participatory Video and Photography. Students will develop visual literacy through practical activities including analysis of images, documentary and narrative journal exercises, thematic analysis and ethnographic writing tasks. Assessment
Proposal for a visual research pilot project (40%)
You will develop and submit a proposal outlining a small scale participatory research project proposing and justifying defined visual methods. Your proposal must include a consideration of relevant ethical issues.
Analysis of piloted use of visual research methods (60%)
Your analysis will focus on your experiences of using selected visual methods commenting on practical, ethical and theoretical issues encountered during the pilot study
