Critical Thinking
Critical Thinking, Evidence and Innovation
During this workshop we will explore approaches to critical thinking. Applying them to everyday issues in working with health related evidence. We will also explore how organisational and individual responses to innovation and consider strategies for encouraging, developing and supporting innovation within the PCT.
Learning outcomes
Understand and apply techniques for developing critical thinking skills
Understand the scope, value and limits of different forms of health related evidence.
Explore the nature of and barriers to innovation within organisations
Partnership
Effective Partnerships
During this workshop we will review some common experiences of partnership working within the organisation. We will consider a variety of factors that contribute to partnership performance such as leading effective meetings, improving communication and building commitment amongst partners.
Learning outcomes
Clarify the key features of effective partnership work.
Explore organisational factors that influence partnership performance
Identify individual qualities and practical skills that can improve the quality and effectiveness of partnership working.
Uncovering Organisational Culture
This workshop explores the different cultures, traditions and working styles that inform organisational decisions and actions. We will examine the similarities and differences between health, local authority and third sector organisations. Our aim during this workshop is to raise awareness of ideological and cultural difference and diversity within partnerships and to encourage more coherent approaches to decision making and implementation that improve the effectiveness of partnership actions.
Learning outcomes
Understand the nature of culture, attitudes and values and their impact on individual decision making.
Understand and express personal and organisational values that influence decision making and workplace actions.
Review similarities and differences within and between partnership organisations
Valuing Partners and Partnerships
This workshop focuses on the way that individuals and organisations demonstrate their commitment and engagement in partnerships. During the workshop participants will develop and justify a set of evaluative criteria for partnership working. The session will also explore how individuals are made to feel valued within teams, organisations and partnerships.
Learning outcomes
•Propose and justify criteria for evaluating partnership working.
•Explore own experiences of being valued or devalued within organisations
•Identify strategies for enhancing individuals and organisations sense of value within partnerships
Building an Engaging Organisation and Engaging Communities
In this workshop we will explore and review a range of principles, tools and techniques used in community engagement. We will examine the extent to which the PCT can be said to be an ‘engaging organisation’ and determine ways in which the organisation might improve it’s profile within the community and amongst its agency partners.
Learning outcomes
•Appraise the extent to which the PCT can be seen as an ‘ engaging organisation’
•Review organisational actions and policies that impede it’s capacity to engage with communities and agency partners
